Current Research
I was recently recruited by the NIH and Children’s National Health System (CNHS) to work on non-invasive MR- guided-HIFU (MR-HIFU) technology. Introducing non-invasive surgery technologies and combining them with other therapy approaches are important to improve the treatment outcome pediatric patients.

We are also working on a novel project to develop a smart computer aided diagnostic (CAD) system. Machine learning algorithms will be applied to the eye-tracking data to understand the complex search algorithms of the expert radiologists.

Ongoing Projects
  • Development of a Novel Eye-tracker System for 3D CT and multi-modality MR Images
  • Gaze2Segment: Integrating Eye-Tracking Technology into Medical Image Segmentation
  • A Novel Computer-Aided Diognastic System Using Expert Radiologist’s Search Algorithm  and Machine Learning Algorithms
  • Development of Non-Invasive Growth Plate Ablation Treatment for Children with Limb-Length Discrepancy Using MR-Guided High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound
  • Optimization of Treatment Planning of Non-Invasive Therapy with MR-HIFU
  • Optimization of Combination of Ablative and Non-Ablative Hyperthermia and Drug Delivery for Complete Treatment of Solid Tumors in Pediatric Patients

Completed Projects
I had been developing novel devices and methods for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey). Immediately after completing PhD, I started post-doctoral fellowship at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI), University of Toronto (Toronto, Canada). I led a multidisciplinary team in a preclinical project to develop non-contrast enhanced MRI methods for characterization of radiofrequency ablation lesions and explain MR contrast mechanism of these lesions.
